Our Journeyman backpack is very spacious and allows you to carry everything you need for both a trip to the mountains and to work. The Journeyman is practical and features simple, minimal lines.

We have combined the best of some of our most beloved materials to create a truly must-have backpack. The main compartment is made of Tin Cloth with an oil finish to protect the contents from rain, sleet and snow-it is this material that has protected generations of loggers and sportsmen in the moist forests of the Pacific Northwest. Tin Cloth is a tightly woven canvas carefully soaked in a kerosene wax-based waterproofing agent that provides maximum water repellency. Our durable 2-ply and 3-ply Rugged Twill was used for the backpack's back panel and base so as to ensure a strong and durable structure. Padded shoulder straps are made of Tin Cloth and lined with Moleskin, a sueded cotton that minimizes slippage and improves breathability. The contoured, adjustable straps attached to the backpack are made of vegetable-tanned Bridle Leather from Wickett & Craig, a historic Pennsylvania tannery in business since 1867. Our Bridle Leather is slowly soaked in an environmentally friendly solution of bark tannin, with tallow and waxes added in the final stages to ensure softness and luster. The result is a material that is as suitable for backpacks, bags and luggage as it is for trim and saddlery.

The Journeyman's main lined compartment is closed by a durable YKK® solid brass zipper, protected from water by a full-length Tin Cloth insert. The zipper extends beyond the middle of the backpack for easy access to contents and visibility inside. The padded back panel protects against impact, while the interior pocket, also padded, can hold a 15-inch laptop computer. The outside pocket has a gusset and snaps on the corners, allowing the backpack to be expanded to increase capacity if needed. The flap pocket with snap closure can be opened with one hand to allow quick access to important items while keeping them dry at all times. Details such as the handle, snap closure on the main compartment's rain cover and zipper pulls are made of Bridle Leather, which best complements a well-designed and well-packaged backpack that is a reliable companion for many miles of walking or biking.
