Established initially as a reliable work pant, it became a symbol of trendy streetwear in the 1960s thanks to its success with two of the world's most driving cultural movements: music and skateboarding. Fascinated by the garment's great ruggedness, skateboarders reinterpreted its high-waisted look by wearing larger sizes to sport their authentic baggy style. In the 1990s, the 874 made an appearance in the rap scene and was worn by major international artists.
