Chrome-free cowhide is soft and lightweight. Sourced from farms in southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul), the leather undergoes an innovative tanning process that is free of chromium, heavy metals or hazardous acids. By simplifying the tanning procedure, the use of chemicals is limited and energy consumption is reduced, by 40 percent for water and 80 percent for salt. After tanning, the water is recyclable.
